  10. Manager has the capability of letting you test the major hardware components of your drive:  the controller board, the drive mechanism, and the drive media.  If you do not want to test all three components, choose Configure Test from the File menu and select the test(s) you want to run.

  12. Running the test will not affect the data on the disk; you can run the test at any time.  The full test takes several minutes, depending on the size of the drive being tested.

  14. If all is well, the controller board test and the drive mechanism test will report ΓÇ£No ErrorΓÇ¥.  The drive media test reports ΓÇ£No New DefectsΓÇ¥ to indicate that the media is OK.

  16. If the drive media test finds new defects, you should back up your files, initialize the drive, and then restore the files.  If the controller board test or the drive mechanism test reports a problem, contact your SuperMac dealer or Technical Support.
